Welcome

Bachelor of Science in Education

Technology Teacher Education

Welcome to my e-portfolio. This e-portfolio is designed to provide you with information regarding my education, professional experience and personal history.

I am originally from Venezuela. Before immigrating to the United States, I studied Systems Organization and Administration at "Colegio Universitario de Caracas" (College University of Caracas). After relocating to the U.S., I found myself having to start my career over from scratch. I have a daughter and I discovered, through caring for her, that I wanted to study education.

I have completed the Technology Teacher Education Program at New York City College of Technology and I have received my initial Certification to teach students from 7th through 12th grade. Additionally, I passed the required NYSTCE Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST), the Assessment of Teaching Skills-Written (ATS-W) and the Technology Education Content Specialty Test (CST). Most of the courses that I took are related to education, technology, science and mathematics. I also completed 120 hours in two internships and 240 hours of Student teaching.

As a teacher I feel a responsibility to faithfully relay to the students important technological knowledge. Students have the right to become technologically literate. Students will practice their problem solving skills, enhance their critical thinking and be guided in their career path. I can teach courses related to technology and all its systems: manufacturing, electronics, construction, communications, transportation, and concepts of biotechnology. There are also other subjects that are of interest to students: principles of engineering, design and drafting, robotics, green technology and the use of various computer programs.

I love working as a teacher and interacting with students in a classroom. Every single day my priority is that students be treated with respect in a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning. In other words, the way we treat each other matters. If the classroom promotes respect and motivation, the students will perform well and they are going to learn. Students need people who create a positive influence in their lives. I am always working hard to be a positive model for them.

All my students are in my heart and their smiles motivate me to continue working hard, with love and enthusiasm.

Thank you for visiting my e-portfolio!
